About Christy

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in online psychotherapy for adults.

For almost twenty years, I have been part of the behavioral and mental health field. As a private practitioner, I have helped a number of clients facing challenges with abuse, addiction, anxiety, depression, and grief, as well as a wide range of other mental health disorders.  With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. My therapeutic philosophy is one of compassion and collaboration in order for clients to achieve their own goals.  With respect, sensitivity and patience, I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach for each person.  Whatever obstacles and struggles someone may be going through in life, I consider it a privilege to work with each individual.

What is Therapy?

There are many misgivings and misconceptions about what psychotherapy is and is not.  The terms counseling and therapy are often used interchangeably, but can mean something different.  Counseling is often short-term, brief, and solution-focused while therapy is focused on long-standing patterns of thinking and behavior as well as recovery from trauma or grief, or understanding and coping with depression and anxiety.  Therapy is not about advice-giving, nor is it about judgment.  Working with a licensed psychotherapist means having someone to talk with about all the ways in which our thoughts, feelings and actions are interconnected and influence one another; it is having a space that is full of compassion and collaboration in order to help you achieve the balance you are looking for.

How does Virtual Therapy work?

In essence, virtual therapy is the same as face-to-face therapy, it just happens to have additional benefits and conveniences. Virtual therapy offers clients flexibility in scheduling and seems to result in fewer missed appointments. Clients save time commuting to and from the office, and it eliminates the fear of running into others you may know in the waiting room. Virtual therapy allows you to be comfortable in a familiar setting of your choice, thereby making sure you are relaxed and feeling more open to the possibility of success and change.
